Chronicle ensures secure, compliant, transparent management of $1B in tokenized assets.
Zug, Switzerland, 11 April 2025 - Chronicle announced today that its Verified Asset Oracle (VAO) technology is enabling all winners of the Spark $1 billion Tokenization Grand prix to verify and manage their tokenized assets. Chronicle's industry-leading solutions provide these winners with unprecedented transparency and compliance.
Last month, BlackRock's BUIDL, Superstate, and Centrifuge were announced as the winners of the Grand Prix. These organizations secured allocations from Sky's planned $1 billion investment in tokenized real-world assets.
These funds will be tokenized to the Sky Ecosystem (formerly known as MakerDAO) via the Spark Liquidity Layer. This initiative was announced last year as part of Spark's strategy to diversify reserve assets into tokenized products.
"Chronicle’s Oracles deliver the transparency, reliability and responsiveness required to enable institutional DeFi at scale,” said Rune Christensen, Founder of Sky (formerly MakerDAO).
As Spark continues to meet the demand for onchain tokenization, collaborating with trusted infrastructure providers becomes essential.
"Chronicle's VAO technology is critical infrastructure that helps bridge traditional finance with decentralized systems," said Niklas Kunkel, Founder of Chronicle. "We congratulate the three distinguished winners of this Grand Prix, and we're proud to help bring this $1 billion – and billions of future dollars – onchain in a secure, compliant, and transparent way".
Centrifuge has already partnered with Chronicle to enhance transparency for the Janus Henderson Treasury Fund (JTRSY). This integration provides real-time price updates and third-party verification. As a result, stakeholders have complete visibility into the fund's portfolio.
"Chronicle helps bring verified real-time data to investors, ensuring JTRSY is the leading fund in an increasingly competitive tokenized landscape," said Bhaji Illuminati, CEO of Centrifuge. "We're looking forward to working with Chronicle to build on this Grand Prix win and meeting the tremendous investor demand for RWAs."
"We’re proud of our selection in Spark's Tokenization Grand Prix, beginning an important partnership. USTB was designed specifically for sophisticated protocols like Sky that are capable of implementing advanced features like continuous pricing, and protocol mint/redeem functions onchain – aligning with the evolving needs of the Sky Ecosystem," said Robert Leshner, Co-Founder & CEO at Superstate.
The Verified Asset Oracle now serves Centrifuge, M^0, Midas, and Superstate, among others. Assets from t-bills to fiat currencies to commodities like gold can all be securely verified by Chronicle. Chronicle's VAO technology provides the real-time data required by investors to gain insights into billions of dollars of assets onchain.
In recent years, Chronicle successfully spun out of the Sky (formerly MakerDAO) ecosystem and established itself as a leading provider of oracle infrastructure for real-world assets. In late 2024, it launched Chronicle Points, a rewards program that can be accessed through the Sky ecosystem by supplying USDS via Sky.Money, Spark.fi, or Summer.fi. This integration enables users to passively earn Chronicle Points—redeemable for future $CLE tokens—while continuing to earn yield and DeFi incentives. In March 2025, Chronicle raised $12 million in seed funding; the round was led by Strobe Ventures (formerly known as BlockTower Capital).
