Zug, Switzerland, 25 March 2025 -
Chronicle, the first Oracle on Ethereum and leading data infrastructure provider for tokenized assets, today announced it raised $12 million in Seed funding, in a round led by Strobe Ventures (formerly BlockTower Venture Capital).
This funding comes as traditional financial institutions increasingly turn to tokenization and Real-World Assets (RWAs). Boston Consulting Group
estimates that RWAs will reach $16 trillion by 2030; since 2017, Chronicle has secured $20B+ in TVS as Ethereum’s first DeFi native oracle. Over the past year, it expanded its data infrastructure to support the growing adoption of tokenized assets onchain. This includes the launch of Chronicles "Verified Asset Oracle", enabling real-time verification of offchain asset integrity and quality for issuers like Centrifuge, Superstate, and M^0, along with other tokenized asset providers.
In addition to Strobe, the round included investors Galaxy Vision Hill, Brevan Howard Digital, Tioga Capital, 6th Man Ventures, Fenbushi Capital, Robot Ventures, Gnosis Ventures, and Credibly Neutral, and more. Angel investors included Rune Christensen (Founder of Sky, formerly MakerDAO), Andre Cronje (Founder of Sonic/Yearn), Stani Kulechov (Founder of Aave), Mark Phillips (Co-Founder of Steakhouse) and Sam MacPherson (Co-Founder of Phoenix Labs).
"Chronicle is well positioned at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets," said Thomas Klocanas, General Partner at Strobe Ventures. "As banks and asset managers accelerate tokenization initiatives, Chronicle's trusted data infrastructure provides the reliability and compliance capability these institutions require. Chronicle is building essential infrastructure to meet the next wave of institutional adoption."
Oracles have historically been inefficient to scale, lack transparency and decentralization, and are slow and difficult to implement. Chronicle provides the most scalable, transparent, and secure Oracle solution in the blockchain industry.
Chronicle addresses the core challenges financial institutions and DeFi native builders face in bringing data onchain:
- Institutional-Grade Security: Chronicle's infrastructure meets the rigorous security and compliance requirements of regulated financial institutions.
- Verifiable Data: Every element of data can be tracked and verified onchain, creating auditability that satisfies regulatory and risk management needs.
- Cost Efficiency: Chronicle's next-generation technology reduces operational costs compared to traditional alternatives.
- Trusted Network: A consortium of 26 trusted validators includes established financial data providers alongside crypto-native pioneers like MakerDAO.
- Resilient Architecture: Multiple redundancy layers ensure business continuity even in extreme market conditions.
"We're proud to work with Strobe Ventures and a list of distinguished investors who realize that our technology is critical to powering the institutional demand for RWAs," said Niklas Kunkel, Founder of Chronicle. "We'll use this funding to invest in product innovations, expand our global partnerships, enhance our compliance capabilities, and further our standing as the trusted partner bridging TradFi and digital assets."
